The Euro class at the Statue of Liberty in Paris !

Wednesday, April 19th, our Euro class visited a famous monument in Paris, the Statue of Liberty, under the Grenelle bridge.

After working all respectively in their class about the United States of America, especially about the capital city, Washington D.C and the biggest city, New York with the English teacher, Miss Lemoine. The Euro class’ students decided to hang out together to watch closer, one of the famous American monuments in New York, the Statue of Liberty, to learn more about the United States.

The Statue of Liberty of New York was a gift from France to celebrate the century of American independence in 1876 but that one from Paris was a gift from Americains of Paris Committee to celebrate the century of French Revolution in 1889.

On the Statue of Liberty, in Paris, we can see Libertas, the Roman goddess of Liberty. She wears a crown on her head, on her right hand, she is raising a torch of fire and on her left hand, she holds tablets, where we can read in Roman numbers “July, 4th 1776”, the date of American independence.

During this school trip, the Euro class seemed very happy, they laughed, they took many photos and they were even lucky in meeting two old tourists from Ohio, a state in the north of the United States, they had a very good and interesting conversation with them and asked many questions about United States, Ohio and their visit in France. Chances were on their side. It was a good day for the Euro class from Louis Dardenne.
